K1 Visa & Wedding Update - Six Months Later

This past weekend marked the 6-month point from when James and I first submitted our K1 Visa application. This has been the longest, most emotionally charged process I’ve ever experienced. But still, I’m confident we’re doing the right thing. I love him more with each day that passes - even though we’re spending them thousands of miles apart.

And, we’re happy - terribly missing one another, but so happy. 😌

But with all that said, since it has been a while and a TON of people we know have been asking, I thought I’d give everyone an update on where we are at.

Currently, the USCIS (the United States Citizen and Immigration Services) are operating at a pace of about 6-8 months to review an application and give a response. This means that we literally could hear any day from this point on. I’m still not sure if it’s an email or letter in the post that I should be looking out for, but either way, I’m checking on our case multiple times a day, at this point. I am so eager to get this phase of our lives over and done with and the rest of our lives started.

Once we receive our response on the first half of our application, assuming it’s a yes, then the fun begins. I have more paperwork to fill out and so does James. He’s also got a medical exam to schedule and take and an interview to prep for. Around about a month later, he’ll interview at his embassy and hopefully prove his loving and true intentions and convince them to allow him to move here and be with me.

At that point, he’ll give his month’s notice at work and with his flat, and boom - we’re off. We’ll book a one-way flight, pick a date for the wedding and count down the days until his wheels touch down on the Florida tarmac.

Speaking of the wedding, we’ve made incredible progress with that, too. Since I last updated y’all, we’ve finalized and received our outfits, flowers, rings, and nearly all of the ceremonial bits that we’ll bring with us on the day. We’ve worked with our incredible Photographer and Elopement Planner Emett to cement the most perfect locations that we are truly in love with, but those shall remain a secret until our photos come back and we can share them with everyone. So, watch this space and be patient. 😉🤐🤫😘 Next on the list is to work on finalizing our ceremony and vows and begin the final stages of the travel planning - flights, stays, bucket lists, and to-do lists galore.

It’s all coming together and even though it’s happened relatively quickly compared to how most peoples’ weddings are planned, I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. Instant gratification has always been my thing, after all.

As before, James and I just want to extend a massive thank you to everyone who has supported us in one or another throughout this scary, crazy process. You’re helping our literal dreams come true and we could never be more grateful.

Here’s to hoping that by my birthday or Christmas, I have a different kind of present waiting for me this year - only time will tell.

Xoxoxo
