It only took me 30 years, but I’ve finally come to the realization that I really enjoy watching documentaries and docuseries. With my attention span, who would have seen that one coming?

Most of these stories I knew absolutely nothing about before watching and I am still reeling about a few of them, days or even weeks after viewing. The world is such an insane place and the more I learn about it, the more normal I feel.

Of late, watching these has been my whole personality and I feel like I just want to talk about it with everyone and anyone who asks (and even some who don’t). Which brings me to the purpose of this post - to share the major-wins and the semi-duds that I’ve come across in my search for which doc to watch next. There are plenty of lists on the internet, so I’m not really adding much to the conversation, but I’m always looking for a good rec, so here are mine, in case you are too.

This list will be exhaustive of all the docs I’ve watched in the last couple of months, but I won’t go into details so as to avoid spoiling. I’ve decided to give each one a rating of 1-10, with 10 being an absolute MUST WATCH. I’ve also added a sentence or two of my overall thoughts.

This was a bit dry and hard to get through at times, but I love LOVE the way they chose to end it.

This was one of those stories I knew very little about, but I feel like I learned A LOT from watching this. Overall, very well-done.

I loved this so much that I’ve seen it twice. If the psychology of cults interests you, this is a must-see.

This was such an LOL to watch. I love the way they chose to present this story. Watch it - especially if finance or investing is of interest to you.

“Escaping Twin Flames” was far better, but this whole story is too truly fascinating, so I had to watch both.

I feel like I learned more about this case on TikTok. Not bad, but they focus a lot on the social media aspect, which, to me, is far less important.

This is the same as the Waco doc - I had no idea this even happened and I am still shook. The first couple of episodes drag, but once you start getting to the tea, you CANNOT stop watching this.

OMFG I loved this one. I watched it twice BACK TO BACK. Holy hell. It was fascinating and amazing. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.

I think this one is one of the most predictable of the lot, but it’s still interesting to watch people make very poor choices and get caught. LOL
