For Once, Having Skeletons Was a Good Thing

Halloween has always been my favorite holiday - and the festive decorations are my absolute favorite part.

Date night a few weeks back brought Ethan and I to a small-town in Eastern Michigan which boasts a celebration of skeletons for the month of October, called The Skeletons Are Alive!

These fabulous skeletons were decorated and placed up and down all the streets of the town.

The skeletons accompanied lots of holiday fun and festivities that took place from the beginning of the month onward. Check out their website for more information here.

These adorable characters were better dressed for the holiday than I was! They are the epitome of why I love this time of year and they just had to be documented.

Many local businesses sponsored a skeleton and thematically decorated them - like the local legal offices and architectural firms.

They were set up in all kinds of crazy scenes. Some were getting married, some were playing guitar, some were having date night, and one was even robbing a bank. Northville thought of everything! All of them were very well done up, but some of them bordered on a little creepy. The skeleton woman being proposed to by an alien was a highlight, for sure.

When we first stumbled upon these adorably spooky characters, I was over-the-moon excited. With over 150 skeletons scattered around town, I unfortunately didn’t manage to check them all out, but I had a blast getting a giggle at the ones I could find. I can definitely say that they were the perfect addition to our night out.

If you have the chance, I highly recommend you take the journey to Northville next Halloween and get to know a few of the boney beauts for yourself. My hat’s off to you, Northville; your skeletons were alive and well.
