Blogmas Day 2 - Tradition
Happy Blogmas Day 2, friends.
It’s blustery and dark outside - you can feel a snowstorm brewing. The weather definitely has me in the winter spirit. There are a lot of things I really enjoy about winter and these dark and creepy days are, surprisingly enough, one of them. I hate being out in the cold, but watching it from the inside makes me feel some type of way.
Yesterday marked the first day of the festive season for us, as Ethan and I traveled half-way across the state to get our Christmas tree. A tradition he introduced me to last year that we plan to continue from here on out. We found her at Tannenbaum Farm and she’s even more beautiful than last year. We’ve named her Candy after the nickname of her particular tree species and she’s honestly one of the most lovely trees I’ve seen.
It was a long, cold, muddy day, but we made it home with enough time for me to get some writing done and for us to get her inside and in her stand, ready be decorated today. Ethan spent about 2 hours replacing light bulbs in our string lights, bless him, because 4 our of our 5 strands malfunctioned. Gotta love that. But I both applaud and appreciate his patience and dedication to get that sorted for us - he’s a keeper. Our tree takes us half the living room, but we both like it that way. I can’t wait for everyone to see her all done up - stay tuned!
I didn’t sleep much last night - I just had too much on my mind. So, I did some late-night Christmas shopping (obviously forgetting that today was Cyber Monday and I could have saved some money had I just waited a few hours - #classic me *eye roll*) and watched some Michael McIntyre before finally sorta falling asleep at about 4:30 am. But even though I’m pretty worn out, I’m still looking forward to going home and making a HelloFresh with Ethan and getting our tree all dressed to the nines. That is if trees can even be “dressed.” What do you think?
It’s beginning to feel a lot like the holidays around here.
It seems odd to me that we are 23 days away from Christmas. Where did the time go? I’m always saying that these days - time really does speed up as we get older. It feels like only a few days ago that I was ringing in 2019 and now we’re only days away from doing it all over again for 2020. Wow. Truthfully, I’m just looking forward to mid-week this week when mine and Ethan’s advent calendars arrive. Both of us were a little behind the 8 ball, but that’s okay because it just means that we get to open 3 or 4 all on the first day - it’s like Christmas… oh, wait… *wink* But even as much of a Scrooge as I can be, advent calendars give me life - it’s the same good feeling you get when a letter addressed to you arrives in the post. Oh how I wish people still wrote letters to one another. If anyone out there wants to be pen-pals, just let me know. I’d love to figure out if I even still know how to physically write anymore. LOL I digress.
I don’t have a ton of other news to share on this average Monday, but at least no news is good news… especially for a Monday! I hope you’re all having an average or better Monday, too. What did you get up to this weekend? Are you embracing the Christmas season already or are you off to a late start? Let me know in the comments below and I’ll see you all tomorrow for Day 3 of the fun.
Happy Blogmas, all, write on!
